Before planning party games and fun make sure all these:
Everyone is a Winner
Parties are a time to have fun, which means all guests should go home smiling. If you are going to provide prizes, try to reward all players just for participating or avoid prizes all together. Especially when entertaining very young children who have yet to develop a grasp on sportsmanship. Consider playing most, if not all games without prizes but everyone gets a candy or sticker. When all of the games are complete...everyone receives their goody bags.
Be Flexible
If you sense that a party game is not going well, let it go and move on to the next activity. Or, make a quick adaptation to an existing game. If your party games are dependant on the weather...be prepared to take the party indoors if necessary
Be ready : Be prepared before start the games ,keep ready all the things ready related to party games.
Party Games and fun for kids :
Pass the Orange
Arrange for teams of about 8 to stand in a line, one behind the other (arranged boy, girl, boy,...). Give each team an orange which the first person should tuck under his chin. This should be passed to the person behind. When the orange gets to the last person, they come to the front of the line and start again. The winnnig team is the first one which gets their starting person to the front again.
Balloon Pop
Place notes inside un-inflated balloons,1 or 2 of the notes should indicate that this balloon is a winner. Inflate the balloons and hang them around. Let each child pick a balloon then pop it to see if their note is a winner
Sounds
Seat all the children in front of you and tell them that you will be calling out the names of various animals. The children must then make the sound the animal makes, instantly. For example, you say something like, I wish I had a little dog! and point to a child. The child must immediately bark. You could then say cow, duck, cat, pig, cock, horse. You could even use words like water (splash), or boxing (dishum). Basically, call out words which have sounds, and the child must only make the sound when you point at him or her. If the child hesitates, he or she is out!
Ticklin' Feather
Number of players: Unlimited
Equipment : Large Sheet ,Large Feather
All kneel down around the sheet which is placed on the floor. All grab the edges of the sheet and raise it to face height. Get an adjudicator to put the feather in the middle of the sheet and then it's BLOW time. The object of the game is not to let the feather touch you and to blow it onto the other participants. If the feather gets you you're out and the winner is the only person not to be "feathered".
Balloon and String Game
Number of players:
Up to 25
Equipment:
One balloon per player
A String
Tie a balloon to your ankle by a piece of string (about 18 inches long) Once everyone has the a balloon start playing some music. Whilst the music plays, people walk around the floor. When the music stops, the aim is to burst the others peoples balloon and protect your own.No holds barred, whatever it takes to burst that baloon is allowed. The winner is the last person left with a balloon.
Get Off My Hat
YOU WILL NEED:
-Big brown paper bag
-Pencil
-Scissors
-Record player or radio
HOW TO PLAY
Cut the bag so that you can open it out flat.
Draw a big witch's hat and cut it out.
At the party, put the hat on the floor.
The players get into a straight line and shut their eyes.
A leader is at the front to see that no one peeks. Whoever peeks is out of the game.
When the music starts, the players walk back and forth across the hat.
Any player on the hat when the music stops is out of the game.
The last player left wins.
Can You Guess
Put several small items into a brown paper bag. Blindfold one person and hand them one of the items in the bag. Give them a few seconds to guess what the item is. If they are unsuccessful they are out. The last one wins
Pass the Parcel
Wrap a bar of chocolate (or some other gift), in a layer of paper. Now wrap it in another layer and repeat until you have about 10 layers. Finally wrap it in gift paper (so it looks nice).
Sit everyone in a circle and play a short snippet of music. When the music stops, the person holding the parcel removes ONE layer of wrapping. Repeat until the last layer of wrapping has been removed. The winner keeps the present.
Musical Chairs
The old favourite. With one fewer chairs than people, a short snippet of music is played while the people move around the room. When the music stops everyone tries to sit on a vacant chair. (Only ONE person per chair) The person who doesn't find a chair is out. One chair is taken away and the game continues until only one person (The Winner) is left.
Memory Game
On a tray, place about 10 to 15 small items (e.g. pencil, watch, comb, shoe lace, spoon, toy car, etc.) and cover with a cloth. Sit everyone in a circle. Place the tray in the middle of the circle and remove the cloth for 60 seconds. Everyone has to remember the objects. When the time is up, replace the cloth. In turn, each person has to name an object on the tray. The first person to fail to name an object, repeat an object or name something not on the tray is out. The tray is then removed and some or all of the objects replaced, and the game re-started with the person following the one who is out. If the game is too easy for the group, add more objects or reduce the time.
Question Hour
This is yet another popular game that is played at parties. Everyone sits around in a circle and any one person asks a question to the participant sitting on his/her left side. You can play this game clockwise or anti-clockwise. The person to whom a question has been asked has to respond by asking another question to the next person and the game goes on. A person is declared out if he/she: responds to the question, starts laughing, repeats the question or goes blank for more than 8 seconds
Spelling Bee
This is another one of the games that can be played at almost any party. One of the players becomes the question master and asks the players to spell a series of words. The moments a person misspells, he/she is out of the game. The player who is left not-out till the last is declared the winner
Statue !
Played with music, all the players move round while the music is going on, when the music stops the players have to stand like statues, anyone who moves is out, start the music again and repeat as many times as you want. The last one is the winner.
Red Blue Green fun
Red means fast, blue means normal speed, green means go slow. Choose different activities hopping, jumping, walking, dancing etc. Shout out the colors and activity
Pinning the tail of the donkey
Draw a picture of the back of a donkey without the tail on a big piece of paper or cardboard draw on a big "x" where the tail should be, and paint a separate tail that will be pinned.
Each guest is blindfolded in turn and lead to the donkey, spin them round 3 times near the picture, then they have to "pin the tail to the donkey".
Poker Faces
Make 2 equal teams.
Call the teams different names eg 1 and 2 or apples and lemons.
Play music, after a time switch off the music, shout out one team name, that team has to make the other team laugh, smile or move any part of their face etc, the players that are not "poker faces" are counted as1 point each, the team with the lowest score at the end of the game are the winners. Repeat as many times as you want the game to last. Alternating the team names shouted out
Do the Opposite !
Have a list of things for the players to do e.g. walk, run, sit down, hop on left foot, wave your right hand, quiet, noisy, stand still, jump up and down, scream, dance etc.
The game is to do the exact opposite to what you are saying.Gradually remove all those players who get it wrong,
The last player remaining is the winner
The one who has put their tail closest to the "x" is the winner. Either make different tails for each guest or mark the spot with the players name.
SPOON RACE
Each player must run a certain distance, holding a spoon with a big potato on. The players run in turn. If the potato falls down, the player must put it in the spoon again and continue to run. To run without a potato in the spoon means to break the rules. The player who covered the distance in the shortest time is the winner. Instead of a potato you can even try a lemon.
Catch the Balloon
Indoors
Equipment: 3 or 4 balloons
Formation: Circle
Arrange the players in a circle on the floor and have them number off. Put the highest number in the center to act as 'it'.
"IT" holds a balloon and calls out a number while dropping the balloon to the floor. The holder of that number then tries to catch the balloon before it touches the floor. If the player is successful 'it' tries another number. If the balloon touches the floor then that player is "it".
Blind man's Bluff
Indoors
Equipment: 1 chair per person;
1 blindfold
Formation: Circle
'It' is blindfolded and stands in the center of a seated circle while the players change seats. 'It' now sits on a player's lap. No words are spoken. He must guess whose lap he is sitting on. If he's correct, the two change places. Prizes for game playing should be small toys, stickers or candy.
This will make it affordable for each child to get more than one.
Back-to-Back Balloon Pop
Indoors
Equipment: A supply of balloons
Formation: Pairs
Pick teams of two.
Have the pairs stand in a line or circle back to back, with a balloon held between their backs. On the leader's signal, the players press together, trying to burst their balloon. The first team to pop its balloon wins.
If you prefer not to have winners, play until all of the balloons are popped.
Some more simple ideas for fun
*Adapt traditional party games to match your theme. For instance, at an Elmo party, play "Pin the Nose on Elmo" and "Elmo Says" (instead of "Simon Says").
* Create a tower from toy blocks and let the kids knock it down…again…and again!
* Play a few rounds of “Ring Around the Rosy” with the guests and their parents.
*Chasing bubbles is a favorite toddler activity! Turn on a bubble machine or have other adults help blow bubbles and let the children catch them.
*Create two or three separate play stations by laying blankets on the floor or in the yard. Put a different type of toy on each blanket, such as balls on one and blocks on another. You could also use stuffed animals, dolls, cars, or picture books. Let the children move from one blanket to another.
Leader of the Band -
Stage a music parade with you and the birthday child leading the way! Play some fun music in the background and hand out toy musical instruments to the children. Then lead them in a parade around the room as they make music together.
Bean Bag toss
Make five bean bags by filling baby socks with dry beans and tying the ends closed. Set out a plastic bucket, a toy grocery cart or a laundry basket for a target. Show the children how to toss the bean bags into the target, or simply walk up and drop them in. Make sure every child is a winner by allowing them to walk as close to the target as necessary.
Clothespin Search Game
Before the party, attach clothespins to sofa cushions, curtains, and other places in the room at toddler height. Then let the children search for all the clothespins.
Wagon Rides
Place a colorful blanket and a variety of stuffed animals in a child’s wagon. Tie balloons to the back and pull the guests around the room or yard for rides. If throwing a theme party, make sure the stuffed animals fit the theme (a Tickle-Me-Elmo for an Elmo theme, for example).
Baby Art
Set out paper or white paper plates and child safe paint. Dip each child’s hand into the paint and press it onto the paper, leaving a little handprint. Label each paper with the child’s name and let guests take them home at the end of the party.
